invetions week

*Inventions week*

The most enjoyable part was :Watching all the children showing the dragons their inventions because their comments of the dragons sounded kind of hard.

The hardest part was :The labor, gst, profit and Building the invention because are invention is very big.

If i was to do this again i would:Make my invention better and make more money because we did a low money price for a big invention.

The most tricky part was: when i was at school and Emily had to do all the work by her self because i wasn't there.

I have learnt how to:Work out profit, gst, labor  because we sat down on the Matt and we were talking about what it means.

How did you feel when you where talking to the Dragon in your class room: Scared that if i got through i would of been talking to really dragons in the finals.

The easiest part was: when me and Emily were creating our invention.

The most embarrassing part was: when me and Emily were doing are presentation in front of the class.

The most happiest part was:When we got it over and done with.

Wearable art.

                         Wearable art

  • Yesterday we completed the dress and the head band.

  • We had difficulty with the head band because we needed the right colours of fire.

  • We found out that we could not use hot glue because it burns the plastic.

  • Working by my self is kind of easy because its easier to think of what i could do.

  • Does your outfit reflect your element?Yes because the dress is red and the things that i have put on are reflecting the element and shapes. Why not because the head band colours are not quit like the fire colour but it look great.

  • The Torbay learning model
Helps use reflect are element.

Overall i feel exited to wear my dress.

The biggest success was finishing The dress and the band, head band.

My most enjoyable part was making the fire shapes out of the cards.

The hardest part was sowing and making the shape of the dress.

If i was to do this again i would make more layers and put more fire shapes sow it would look more of a fire element.

I have learnt how to use things out of rubbish that would reflect my element of fire.

Monday
9am - Today we are going to be designing are own dresses and more buy using are rubbish that we have found at home.

Afternoon
Today we have been designing are own dresses or hat or more using are rubbish.

I found out that it was really tricky to stick things to your dress.

I wondered if you could use this wearable art dress for going to another wearable art competition.

The most challenging thing about the dress was thinking what you could put on your wearable art design.

Now i need to find things to go on the side of you dress.

Tomorrow i will put the things going down of the side of the dress on.

The most fun part was gluing every thing on.

This is my design so far:

Music with Mrs Mchugh.

                               Music.

Tread lightly reflection

                 Tread lightly reflection
This week my learning has been interesting and i learn new things in the tread lightly craven.

I found Out that recycling is good because if you don't  recycle then you will have rubbish every were you walk.

I wondered  if we could have more trips about recycling and learn heaps.

The most difficult is that when you learn. you sometimes think its hard but its not.

Now i know that when you don't turn of the electric you will lose electric.

My next steps are to stop using a lot of electric.

I enjoyed the electric bike because it shows how much power it it takes from your body.

the fun part was the it Kind of like snakes and ladders but it was a little bit different.

 The humpback whales

Description:

The humpback whale is one of the most easily recognized whale . Reaching between 40 and 50 feet in length, a humpback whale can weigh up to 48 tons. They are recognized from other whales due to their large flippers, almost one-third of their body size, and they turn onto their backs.

Habitat:

Humpback whales live in oceans across the globe and can be seen in shallow water. usually , these whales live and travel together in pods upwards of 20,000 whales.

Food Source:

Humpback whales eat fish and krill. They are baleen whales, meaning they are filter feeders. These whales have two straight rows of baleen plates attached to their jaws, allowing them to filter water for fish and krill. They can eat up to a ton of food a day, and newborn humpback calves can eat 100 pounds of their mother's milk a day. They only feed in the summer months.

The bird lady.

                         The bird lady
On Tuesday the 8 of April the bird lady came into the class to talk about what she does with birds and what trees they fly into and what she does with them.

The lady's name is Sylvia, she has a good job.
The birds she bout in is called:penguin, more pork,

when Sylvia visited room 2 i was interested in what she brought in the:penguin, more pork, and more, its good to learn about birds and what happens to them.

people across the world still track down North Shore's bird lady for advice.
Sylvia Durrant has rescued birds and nursed them back to feisty health for about 25 years.
Around 4000 birds a year arrive at her Rothesay Bay home - from dazed penguins rescued by policemen from roads at night to baby tui, mistaken for blackbirds, found in gardens.
Even people in Hong Hong, China and England phone her for advice after tracking down her phone number on the internet.
But usually she's taking daily calls from Aucklanders with sick native or introduced birds that are cared for and released back into the wild.
For many years she's been part of the SPCA's Bird Wing but it's been disbanded due to such few groups working in this area.
Mrs Durrant says she's always relied on donations, rather than financial support from SPCA, so it won't impact on her work.
